| 07/02/2024 | MMM-202406-QLTY - Potential Quality Issue. We are writing to inform you of a recent discovery that concerns our 3M™ Round Shielded/Jacketed Discrete Wire Cable 3644B product family that you have purchased from us. While manufacturing the material, incorrect input wire may have inadvertently been used on one of the twisted pair wires, where a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) coated wire was used instead of the required polypropylene (PP) coated wire. A full investigation was conducted, and corrective actions have already been implemented. A list of potentially impacted lots is attached on the appendix below. Product life and cable rating remain the same. However, the PVC coated wire pairs have different capacitance versus the rest of PP coated wire pairs. This issue may only be relevant to customers with applications that are sensitive to capacitance. If you have any inventory remaining from the impacted lots, 3M will accept returns of the material and issue replacement material. We flagged a potential quality issue with some 3644X cables in early 2023 that is now coming to light. The cable most likely works within specification and there’s nothing to worry about but we just wanted to get this out to be on the safe side. | Product Change Notice Download |
