09/30/2024PCN-24-212901 - Material Change.TE has adopted an absolute goal of 30% CO2 reduction by 2032. Dedicated to our commitment to sustainable development. We participate in various initiatives , and use our creativity skills to help advancing our sustainability. Palladium(PdNi) with gold flash plating are emerging as sustainable alternatives to gold plating. These materials offer comparable electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance, making them suitable for many applications. Additionally, they significantly have a lower environmental impact ,due to reducing CO2 footprint of plating. Coming up with this solution ,we are glad to announce that we successfully added PdNi as an option of plating for Dynamic D3000 series advance our sustainability goals. FINISH (CONTACT AREA): Gold or PdNi +Gold flash; 0.38umMin over Nickel under plating. FINISH (CONTACT AREA): Gold or PdNi +Gold flash; 0.76umMin over Nickel under plating. Considering the possibility of the cross mating between PdNi and Gold, TE will make additional cross mating test. The process is planned to use PdNi plated female part to mate with gold plated male part as test sample for durability mating cycle test per the condition in product specification. Then the reversed plated test samples will be also tested in the same way. Below list the change Before: FINISH (CONTACT AREA): Gold plating 0.38umMin over Nickel under plating. To accomplish this, we describe the way of execution. TE will keep the existing part numbers with gold plating, will be accompanied by a significant price increase in October. New part numbers of PdNi plating will be released with the neutral price soon. For new part numbers, we will provide a separate list for parts selection.
