Headers provide a common inexpensive solution to mating all kinds of boards in medical test equipment.
A header is an electrical connector consisting of one or more rows of pins. Headers come in two forms: male (pin) and female (socket). Headers are often used on PCB’s (printed circuit boards) for making connections. Connections can be to other PCB’s, plugging in wires or other connectors or can be used as a jumper (a jumper is a conductor used to close a break or by-pass electrical current. • Header posts can be cut to any height and board depth • Wide variety of plating options • Vertical, right angle or custom bends • Breakaway design allows for easy separation into smaller units • Sockets available with right angle and SMT contacts
EDAC offers a broad range of box, pin, and socket header connectors in the market. Box headers are widely used for board to board, or wire to board connections. Right angle, vertical and even custom bends are available. The breakaway design allows for separation into smaller units. Pin Headers mate with socket receptacles, providing a reliable and economical BTB connection. Available in multiple contact spacing options, in single, two or three row configurations.
Highlights:
- Header posts can be cut to any height and board depth
- Wide variety of plating options
- Vertical, right angle or custom bends
- Breakaway design allows for easy separation into smaller units
- Sockets available with right angle and SMT contacts
Types of Header Connectors: Box Header Connectors, Pin Header Connctors, Socket Header Connectors, DIN Header Connectors

Waterproof d-sub connectors are also available with epoxy sealed contacts at the rear, and an o-ring seal to the panel. EDAC’s molding process to seal the db connector fills every void with epoxy to provide no air bubbles and no wicking of epoxy up the contacts.
Waterproof D-Subs
The EDAC IP67 rated waterproof D-Subminiature connectors are available in both standard and high density packages. Plug and receptacles in 9, 15, 25, 26, 37, and 44 pin versions are available as well as high power combo configurations. Vertical and right angle footprints, with a variety of termination styles, contact plating thicknesses, and mounting options are available. A solid performer in rugged applications and harsh environments.
Features:
- Standard E, A, B, and C shell sizes with contact positions of 9, 15, 25, and 37 for standard density or 15, 26, and 44 for high density DSub connectors, respectively. Waterproof power combo uses shell sizes E, A, and B and is offered in 12 industry standard contact layout configurations (see next page)
- Signal contacts for waterproof or signal combined with power contacts for power combo up to 40 amps • Various board and flange mounting options are available for exceptional retention to the PC board or panel and connector
- IP67 as per IEC60526 is achieved by a special epoxy sealing process, providing zero ingress with no wicking up the leads and a smooth molded finish with no air bubbles. Combined with an o-ring seal to panel

Waterproof connectors are used in medical lab environments when exposure to fluids is expected.
Enhancing one of EDAC’s original connector lines, the E-Seal family of D-Sub’s, USB’s, HDMI, Inline Wire to Wire and Wire to Board connectors, we have expanded it’s offering to include a complete range of waterproof options as part of our E-Seal series of products.
Highlights
- E-seal uses a Proprietary epoxy sealing process through which seals the entire back of the connector rather than at individual pins. This provides for complete sealing with an impeccably smooth finish and guarantees no water ingress as fully tested to IP67 standards
- Full range of D-subs from DB 9 right through to a maximum of 78 positions available
- Standard and high density footprints are readily available in vertical or right angle orientations. Plating options vary from gold flash to 30u” of gold and include a wide variety of mounting options
- Combo Power D-subs which can carry up to 20 amps on the Power pins
- USB Type A and B wire to wire use quarter turn twist and lock over mold and O-ring for the perfect seal every time
- USB Micro B saves valuable board space and provides maximum cable retention. Fully epoxy sealed at rear plus a custom O-Ring reliably seals the shell to panel
- IP67 Waterproof HDMI cable connectors with quarter turn twist and lock over mold and O-ring provide for a rugged waterproof connection in all outdoor video applications
